The McDavid thermal shoulder wrap is designed to provide safe, effective, hands-free treatment for injuries with maximum comfort and convenience. The shoulder wrap works with both soothing hot or icy cold therapy, with an insulating neoprene material that helps maintain the desired temperature. Cold is generally applied to acute injuries immediately after trauma, as cold therapy constricts blood vessels to reduce the swelling, block pain, and promote healing. Compression and elevation are also important in the immediate treatment of acute injuries. By contrast, users should apply heat to chronic injuries (ongoing conditions). Heat therapy increases the blood flow to the injured area, helping the body remove and reabsorb cellular byproducts. Heat is also soothing, and can reduce pain and stiffness. Note, however, that heat should never be applied to an acute injury unless under the direction of a sports medicine professional.

Bought this after surgery on rotator cuff. It works well, stays in place, and stays cold for the whole time I am supposed to use it (1/2 hour). After a couple of hours in the freezer, it's ready to go again. Glad I bought it.

I tore my rotator cuff after a fall on the ice and needed something that stayed in place better than a heating pad. I looked at products way more expensive than this but they didn't seem worth the price difference.
The product can be used either hot or cold. Personally, I use it hot. The gel packs hold their heat for 30-40 minutes. I suggest letting them cool for a few minutes because they are really hot at first.
This is a one size fits most model the can be used on either shoulder. I have a 48" chest at had a couple of inches to spare. If you're bigger than that it probably will be too small.
This is really a great product at a very reasonable price.

I love this pack! It fits perfectly and I don't need to worry about it falling off my shoulder. I can put this on and still move around if I need to. I have only used it for cold, so not sure how it works for warm therapy.

I had been suffering with terrible pain in my rotator for 8 months. I was at the point of having real difficultly putting on a coat or opening a door. I Have no idea how I injured my shoulder, but it wasn't getting any better with three times a day Advil and gentle rotator cuff exercise. I used this product with hot gel packs every night and within a week I had significant relief--within a month, the pain was completely gone. I was astonished.

The wrap comes with two hot/cold gel packs which slip into the shoulder wrap quite easily. Whether you are using hot or cold therapy, the wrap remains at a suitable temperature for a long enough period of time to be effective (up to about 30 minutes). The coverage is ideal as it encompasses the entire shoulder. The wrap is highly flexible for different body types/sizes and is quite easy to put on yourself.
All in all, the value is excellent for this highly effective hot/cold shoulder wrap. This item is a must buy for those with any type of shoulder issue.
