The pressure gauge is a wonderful feature. The MistyMate is very light in weight, which has an appeal, but I would rather have a stainless steel model with no plastic parts. At the time I write this, I don't know of any such product for sale. I'd be willing to spend a few hundred dollars for something that nice. I bought the neoprene cover for my MistyMate. The idea of the cover is nice. Keeping the water cool and protected from the sun has definite value. But the strap does not snap securely enough to be able to use the strap for any purpose -- can't be used as a handle, can't be attached to a belt loop with absolute confidence that it will hold the MistyMate for any amount of time. HERE IS SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT: Do not unscrew the cap to empty or refill the water if there is any amount of water or any amount of pressure indicated on the gauge. The release of this pressure can cause a loud explosion. That happened to me once. Thankfully I had each portion secure in each hand (and I suppose the pressure inside was minimal) but it certainly seems like a dangerous scenario that could easily cause serious injury. Follow all instructions. The instructions explain how to safely drain the pressurized water and how to properly release the pressure before attempting to add more water. Be careful.
Works great after a little work... September 1, 2010 Neal Shumway (Lewis Center, Ohio) I ordered two of the MistyMate 24s through Target, liking the idea of the integrated pump and large water capacity. I had seen reviews in which people had problems with it leaking form around the mister when it was turned on but I figured I would give it a shot anyway. It turns out both of mine had the same leaking problem and after trying a different o-ring for the mister head with no luck, it was clear it was leaking due to how the valve was put together- basically a design flaw. To fix this, I unscrewed the mister head and ran a small bead of thin superglue around where the valve pieces were put together and it works perfectly. The only other drawback is that it could use a different shaped pump assembly so you can get more leverage when unscrewing it to refill. With the superglue fix I would say it is an excellent product.
